Eifco HOBBER 800: Large-Gear CNC Hobbing to 800 mm
Eifco has commissioned its largest CNC gear hobbing machine to date: the HOBBER 800, an 800 mm class machine now in production at Rupkala Gears in India. With it, Eifco is taking orders for large-format CNC gear hobbing machines, and CTI-USA is its representative for the United States.
What it cut at commissioning
To prove the machine, Eifco hobbed a gear that would stop most shops' machines at the door:
- Teeth: 62
- Module: 11 (about 2.3 DP)
- Outside diameter: 715 mm (28.1 in)
- Face width: 127 mm (5.0 in)
- Cutting time: 110 minutes
That is a gear for railway traction, mining, cement and heavy industrial drives, the work Rupkala bought the machine for, and a size that has usually meant an older mechanical hobber or sending the work out.
Where it sits in the HOBBER range
The vertical HOBBER series runs from the HOBBER 150 to the HOBBER 630, with direct-drive spindles through the 320/350 and geared spindles on the larger machines. Large hobs, one source
A machine this size is only as productive as its hobs.
